Type: Self-Catering

The Tallet is adjacent to the farmhouse. It was converted in 1995 from a bake house and hayloft, to a comfortable, well-equipped holiday home.

It is available for weekly holidays all year, and for short breaks outside school holidays. If you have a stressful job and need a break, or you wish to celebrate a special anniversary away from the world, yet within two hours drive of London, this is the perfect place to unwind.

We have been careful to preserve many original features including flagstone flooring, a stone staircase, the original oven door and an inglenook fireplace in which there is now a wood burner.

The back door opens onto a stone terrace, with picnic table, and the walled garden, where you can while away the hours in fine weather. If the weather is inclement, then curl up in front of the fire with a book, challenge someone to one of the board games from the cupboard, or watch your favourite video. The Tallet is as “child friendly” as possible, with stair gates at the top and bottom of the stairs.

There are two bedrooms upstairs: a double, with a cot, and a children’s room with full size bunk beds. A small bed can be also put into the double room, for a young child. The bathroom has a power shower over a small bath.

Lone Oak Cottage

This holiday rental property is within easy reach of Bath, Bristol, Glastonbury, Wells, Salisbury and all of the main Somerset attractions.

Lone Oak Cottage is only 2 miles from the busy town of Castle Cary, although the nearest neighbours are about half a mile away!

Named after the oak tree in the field behind, the cottage was built about 50 years ago.

Originally home to Clanville Manor farm's herdsman, the internal accommodation is modern and comfortable.

You can walk, have a picnic or play football in the fields behind and to the side of the property - as long as the farm's beef herd are not grazing there!

Lone Oak is fairly plain from the outside, but what it may lack in external character it more than makes up for with spacious internal accommodation.

There are new double glazed windows throughout and most furniture inside the property is new.

The separate living room has a colour television, a video and a cosy fire.

The large kitchen/dining room is fitted with modern equipment [all new] and appliances including: oil-fired Rayburn - runs the central heating; electric oven, ceramic hob and microwave; dishwasher and fridge freezer

New carpets, curtains, beds, towels and bedding all add to the comfort! A utility room contains a washing machine and dryer.

As this is a bungalow, it is suitable for those with slight disabilities [Level M1 in English Tourism Council grading -inspection pending].

There are 3 bedrooms, a double [with 5 foot bed], a double [with 4 foot 6 bed and patio doors to the back garden] and a twin [with two 3 foot beds].

The shower room includes a large power shower with thermostatic temperature control.

Breakfast can be taken in the nearby farmhouse B&B for a small charge [except when B&B closed].

All lettings include the essentials for your first breakfast. Food supplies can be easily replenished in Castle Cary where there are two butchers, two delicatessens, a wonderful shop selling homemade dishes and treats to take away, and many other independent shops in which to browse. There is a Chinese takeaway, a fish and chips shop, Thai and Chinese restaurants within a five-mile drive.
