The impacts of Climate Change and severe weather are becoming an increasingly important issue and challenge for businesses. In turn, tourism is very dependent and sensitive to the weather and climate, and the tourism industry will need to adapt and reconsider their attitude towards risk planning, service delivery and the products they are delivering.

In July 07 Gloucestershire received 1 ½ times the average July rainfall in just one day causing widespread flooding that affected many homes, businesses and vital service sites, leaving many without power and water for days. The costs have been estimated in the region of 50m to get Gloucestershire back on its feet and the impact on the tourism industry is still visible with some tourism businesses ceasing trading because of the physical impacts and lost trade.
