Countryside

Come and explore the timeless beauty of rural Somerset - rolling hills, sweeping moorlands, ancient woodlands, specially protected landscapes and wildlife reserves (RSPB , English Nature & Somerset Wildlife Trust).

An inspiration to Coleridge, authors and film makers, Somerset is home to Exmoor National Park and three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty - the Quantock Hills, the Blackdown Hills; the Mendip Hills.

A family enjoying a stroll in the countryside

Glastonbury Tor stands sentinel over the Levels and Moors, the historic flatlands of Somerset, whilst the Forest of Avon Community Forest in North Somerset is a wonderful green environment to explore.

A landscape dotted with cider orchards and traditional farms and with some dramatic features such as Cheddar Gorge or Dunkery beacon on Exmoor (the highest point in Somerset), this truly is a county of contrasts!
